Sept 2011

7 ACTS, £7, 7PM

There are approximately less than 7 days to go until the Above & Beyond: Live Music by YEP show hits Birmingham town on the 15th September at HMV Institute, Digbeth. Not only is this going to be a LIVE music show, featuring some of Birmingham’s most talented unsigned acts; the show will also be the first Above & Beyond event for YEP Media Ltd– a young, fresh and enterprising company started by three Birmingham City University graduates.

On the night, there shall be live performances from five previous Access To Music students; Bella Diem, Pulse, JJ Music, Adam Kyron and Miss Hannah O– plus two supporting acts from the local Birmingham area: Essence and Iesea Mendez founder & owner of Anyone Can Sing Vocal Academy.

The hosts on the night will be Phil Shand and Bianca Clayton, both presenters are making waves and we’re sure you’ll see them on your screens one day!

In the running up to the show, we caught up with some of the artists/bands to find out how they’re feeling about performing at Above & Beyond: Live Music by YEP.

Becky Okeghie, one half of sister duo Essence says; “We are really looking forward to performing at such a prestigious venue! We have been working on new songs which we are excited to be sharing with a new audience.”

Miss Hannah O’ says; “I am excited to perform at a venue that has hosted some legendary acts”.

All the artists/bands performing on the night are currently playing gigs/shows across the Midlands and the UK. Above and Beyond: Live Music by YEP is a way to provide  a platform for up and coming acts to perform live, engage & entertain their fan base and to promote themselves on a local level. With so much negative attention, over the last few weeks on the younger generation; Above & Beyond wants to amplify the talent and passion young people have with their music across the city and therefore highlight the power of music to unite the community.

The show will be filled with psychedelic sounds, mixed with indie rock and some soulful R’n’B sounds with a hint of Pop; it’s a ‘one of a kind’ show- not to me missed! So, if you’d like to attend, grab your ticket via the HMV website:; visit the Above & Beyond blog: to find out more information on the show. See you there!
